Dr. Peter Lampen is a physicist with extensive experience in spectroscopy, planetary exploration, and scientific software development. He studied physics at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster from October 1978 to November 1984 and earned his doctorate (Dr. rer. nat.) at the University of Essen in July 1991.

From June 1991 to January 1996, Dr. Lampen worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Spectrochemistry and Applied Spectroscopy (ISAS) in Dortmund, contributing to the BMFT project “Information System Spectroscopy.” He then joined the DLR Institute for Planetary Exploration in Berlin-Adlershof, where he worked on the ESA Rosetta mission, among other projects, until January 1999.

Since February 1999, Dr. Lampen has been affiliated with the Leibniz Institute for Analytical Sciences - ISAS in Dortmund. His roles included contributions to the Molecular Spectroscopy working group, participation in the EU Eurospec project, involvement in the Proteomics project area, and work with the IT Services group.

In April 2022, Dr. Lampen joined the AMBIOM working group, where his primary focus is developing Python-based software, particularly plugins for the visualization tool Napari.
